K.A ABDUL GAFOOR
Retired Judge of the Kerala High Court and
former Chairman of the Farmers Debt Relief Commission, Justice K A Abdul Gafoor
died at his residence Kochi,Tuesday.1st October,2012.He was 67 and
ailing for some time, sources close to the family said. Gafoor leaves behind
his wife, a son and a daughter. Justice K.A. Abdul Gafoor, a former high court judge in Kerala and an ardent supporter of Indian pluralism and interfaith dialogue, passed away at his residence in Ernakulum .He had held several important positions including chairman of the Kerala Sate Farmers’ Debt Relief Commission, vice president of International Interfaith Dialogue India (IIDI), and chairman of PM Foundation.V.K. Abdul Aziz, a long-time associate and an executive member of IIDI, expressed his deep sorrow over Gafoor’s death and said it is big loss to the Indian society.“Justice Abdul Gafoor had dedicated his life for the betterment of society and for promoting communal harmony. He had also worked for the educational uplift of Muslims in Kerala,” Aziz said.He was a High Court judge for six years and had also
served as government pleader. The funeral will be held
Wednesday.
