Prime
Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday ,13th September,2012, laid the foundation stone for the Kochi Metro project. Speaking
on the occasion Prime Minister said the Metro will help in faster development
of the city and pave for economic development of the region.Opposition leader
and CPM veteran V.S. Achuthanandan stayed away from the function.Chief Minister
Oommen Chandy said the Kochi Metro will be extended to Kakkanad and the Cochin
International Airport in Nedumbasserry.
