MOTHER HAS CANCER, FATHER ASTHMATIC BUT LITTLE MUKESH FIGHTS AGAINST ODDS

MOTHER HAS CANCER, FATHER ASTHMATIC BUT LITTLE MUKESH FIGHTS AGAINST ODDS

Mother feeding him food by telling stories, father coming with sweets every evening after work - such a dream has no place in Mukesh life. In his house at Aduppucolony in Malampuzha, Mukesh dons a dual role of father and mother to his parents. He feeds his mother who is cancer-ridden, gives her medicines, goes to school and then to work to earn a living and to support his parents. His mother has oral cancer and there is a deep wound on her left cheek. Mukesh cleans her wound and applies medicines and feeds her food. Vellachi, his mother, is under treatment at a district hospital. They need more money for better treatment. But only Mukesh goes for work in their home. His father Murukeshan suffers from acute asthma. Mukesh earns money by doing small works in a plantation company near his home.

Mukesh is a smart kid and is a fifth standard student. When his friends go for playing after school hours, Mukesh goes to plantation work. His father is ill for a long time and before being detected with cancer, Vellachi too used to work. When his studies were getting affected, social activists in the area intervened and ensured that he goes to school every day. Vellachi was detected with cancer in the test conducted by regional cancer center at Anakkal School. Malampuzha PHC and grama panchayat members took her to Thrissur medical college then but due to financial difficulties, she came back.
Cancer worsened by then.
