MOBILE PHONE SECURITY FOR CARS

MOBILE PHONE SECURITY FOR CARS
A mobile phone is all the accessory that is needed to keep vehicles from being stolen, say an enterprising young bunch of engineering students from the P.R.S. College of Engineering and Technology, Neyyattinkara. As part of their semester project, sixth-semester Electronics and Communication students Deepu B.S., Anish M., Dinu T.S. and Srinath S.S. have developed a car security device to help the owner control his or her vehicle using a the automobile using a mobile phone. The device can be operated from wherever the owner is, in case someone tries to break into the vehicle when it is parked.
The device, of which a demonstration was held in the city on Wednesday, detects the illegal entry of a person into a locked vehicle using a temperature sensor that is fitted into a modified mobile phone inside the vehicle. This phone sends a message to the owner’s phone. The owner could then turn on or off the engine and control the horn and headlights of the vehicle from wherever he or she is stationed, using the phone in hand. The boys, who acknowledge the guidance of their lecturers M.G. Gireeshan and V.J. Bycil, say they are planning to add further features to the device.“We would like to take it to the next level, perhaps include an image sensor We are working on it,” says Deepu.
