PANNIAN RAVEENDRAN
ELECTED CPI KERALA SECRETARY
Senior CPI leader and former MP Pannian Raveendram was to elected as Kerala secretary of the party to succeed C K Chandrappann who died last last month. Raveendran was elected to the key post by a meeting of the sate council of the party which was attended by national General Secretary Sudhakar Reddy and other senior leaders, party sources said. Raveendran emerged to the top slot as a dark horse as AITUC leader Kanam Rajendran and former minister and legislative wing leader C Divakaran were widely projected as front runner to the post. Chandrappan died last month after being re-elected as state secretary by the CPI's state meet in February.
