MULLAPERIYAR NEW DAM POSSIBLE
The Supreme Court empowered committee in its final report on Mullaperiyar dam submitted Wednesday has reportedly suggested the plausibility of a new dam at the site. The report has taken into consideration Kerala's concerns regarding the safety of the dam. Tamil Nadu can construct new channels to tunnel away water from the dam for their needs. The report also contains the results of various tests conducted on the dam's condition. However, the final decision is supposed to be taken by a five-member constitutional bench of the Supreme Court.
