          WASTE DISPOSAL VEHICLE SET ON FIRE IN THALASSERY

     Trouble broke out near Punnolpotti Palam when police cleared agitators who were holding strike against waste disposal. The protestors set on fire the govt waste disposal vehicle. Police lathicharged women who had assembled there to take part in the protest. Police also arrested 50 strikers.Police cleared the striking men who had set up a makeshift camp at Pottipalam early in the morning. Later the waste in Thalassery town was dumped at the trenching ground. 
The protestors also blocked road traffic on the National Highway.
