THE KERALA CABINET HAS GIVEN PERMISSION
FOR 13000 SUPERNUMERORY POSTS
The cabinet has given permision to create 13,678 super numerory posts in the wake of increasing the pension age to 56. Chief minister Oommen Chandy, while briefing the cabinet session, said that the government would make appointments to all posts which would have remained vacant if the pension age was not raised.
The state government raised the pension age when as many as 13,678 people were about to retire from service. These posts would be created as super numerory. The government is adamant on its stand that no one should lose his or her employment opportunity due to the increase in pension age. Within this time, as many as 10,686 vacancies are reported in PSC and 2992 more would be reported soon. CM said that the finance minister would present the special package for school teachers on Thursday in the assembly. Chandy is surprised to know why the Leftist unions are against the decision to hike the pension age. During the regime of the LDF government, in many of the public sector undertakings, pension age was raised to 58.
