MAHATMA GANDHI UNIVERSITY
YOUTH FESTIVAL-2011-2012
St. Teresa's College, Ernakulam, with 69 points, emerged the overall champions at the five-day youth festival of the Mahatma Gandhi University Union that came to a close at Thiruvalla on Sunday. RLV College of Music and Fine Arts, Tripunithura (54 points), and S.H. College, Thevara, (49 points), stood at the second and third positions. Federal Institute of Science and Technology, Angamaly (33 points); and Maharaja's College, Ernakulam (28 points), came fourth and fifth.
The ‘Kalathilakom' title was conferred on Saranya Sasidharan of Federal Institute of Science and Technology, Angamaly. She bagged 16 points at the festival. Rahul R. Nath of Mar Baselius Christian College of Engineering and Technology, Peerumedu, who got 14 points, was adjudged the ‘Kalaprathibha.' The competitions came to a close with the group song contest. The valedictory function began by 8.30 pm. P.J. Kurien, MP, inaugurated the valedictory function and Binish George, university union chairman, presided. Raju Abraham, MLA, and Rajan Varghese, Pro-Vice Chancellor, distributed prizes to the winners. Blessie, cine director, was the guest of honour. R. Manu, organising committee general convener, welcomed the gathering.
