Scintillating performance:Students from Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram, rejoice after the college was declared the overall champions in the youth festival of the University of Kerala, which concluded in Kollam on Sunday (top); and (above) M.A. Adarsh and S. Sreedevi from the college who won the Kalapratibha and Kalathilakam titles, respectively Kumar Scoring 140 points Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram, emerged as overall champions at the Kerala University Youth Festival which concluded here on Sunday,4th March,2012..
The college had won the overall championship in last year's university youth festival too.The Kalaprathibha and Kalathilakam titles also went to the students of Mar Ivanios College.While M.A. Adarsh was declared the Kalaprathibha, the Kalathilakam title went to S. Sreedevi.Their individual scores were 17 points and 16 points respectively.Colleges in Thiruvananthapuram won the second and third positions too. With 72 points Mar Baselios College of Engineering captured the second position and scoring 62 points the SST College of Music won the third position.Over 5,000 students from 260 colleges took part in the five-day festival.At the valedictory function the Oscar Award winner Resul Pookutty was the chief guest.
    In his address, Mr. Pookutty said he always took pride in being a product of the University of Kerala.In fact it was the arts festivals in which he took part during the schooldays which made a big contribution towards achieving what he is today, he said.Mr. Pookutty also distributed the prizes to the winners.Vice-Chancellor A. Jayakrishnan delivered the keynote address.University Union chairman M. Harikrishnan presided over the function
