THE EARTH HOUR-2012

THE EARTH HOUR-2012

The Earth Hour 2012 will be observed on March 31 from 8.30pm to 9.30pm, when people all over the world will turn off the lights to create awareness about climate change. Indeed Earth Hour is primarily about saving energy. This Saturday, March 31, 2012, help spark a movement by going unplugged. Last 2007, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) asked 2.2 million individuals in more than 2,000 businesses in Australia to turn off their lights for one hour. Since then 5,200 cities and towns in 135 countries and territories have responded with a worldwide commitment to a better future
Earth Hour, the largest voluntary movement uniting the world against climate change, launched its digital campaign today on 14 February 2012. Entering its fourth year of celebration in India, Earth Hour has inspired individuals, organizations, institutions and governments across 130 Indian cities to not only take action by switching off lights for that one hour, but go beyond the hour by committing to sustainable actions that benefit our environment.
This year, Earth Hour provides an opportunity for you to lead the way for your entire city, making sure you and your fellow citizens collectively participate to be a part of the solution to the world’s growing environmental crisis. So on 31 March 2012, 8:30 – 9:30 PM, take action for your city by switching off lights for Earth Hour, and play your part in making your city the Earth Hour Champion! 'Earth Hour to inspire government, business communities and individuals to take stand against climate change and celebrate the commitment to the planet by switching-off lights for one hour," For the first time in human history, most people live in cities, and our urban lifestyle is taking a huge toll on our planet. But through collective action from local citizens, our cities can make a huge difference in reducing their impact on the environment. So this Earth Hour, take action for your city by switching off lights on Saturday, 31st March 8:30 – 9:30 PM and make your city an Earth Hour Champion!
