AVOID SMOKING SCENES IN FILMS


The Kerala High Court on Tuesday ordered to ensure that cinemas, serials and other programmes does not contain cigarette-smoking scenes. HC said that central and state governments and Central films certification board must ensure this. HC also said the government and DGP must also ensure that cigarettes and other tobacco products are not sold within 100 meters of the school area.The division bench comprising acting chief justice Manjula Cheloor and justice A V Ramakrishnapillai observed that tobacco products are causing cancer among students. The petition was filed by Kerala Voluntary Health Services in Kottayam against sale of tobacco near schools and illegal advts of tobacco products.
