PHOTO EXHIBITIONS AT METRO MUSEUM

PHOTO EXHIBITIONS AT METRO MUSEUM
Commuters travelling by the Delhi Metro will now be able to catch a glimpse of the public transportation system's history with the inauguration of a series of photo exhibitions at the Metro Museum at Patel Chowk metro station and six other stations across the network on Friday,30th December,2011. On the eve of the third anniversary of the Metro Museum, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation also organised a quiz competition for homeless children at the Patel Chowk station. These children belonged to the Children's Home being run by the DMRC at Tis Hazari. Over 25 children between the age groups of 11 years to 14 years participated. The winners were given prizes and certificates.
The photo exhibition put up at the stations comprises glimpses into the making of the Delhi Metro network through photographs and write-ups. The stations where exhibitions will remain on display for a month are Patel Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Kashmere Gate, Central Secretariat, INA, JLN Stadium and Akshardham. The Metro Museum, the first of its kind in South Asia, was inaugurated on January 1, 2009. It houses display panels, historical photographs and exhibits about the Metro, and traces the genesis of the Delhi Metro. In the last three years, DMRC has added more exhibits and information panels to the museum and introduced interesting paraphernalia and souvenirs for passengers at Patel Chowk.
