DENTAL RESIDENTS HUNGER STRIKE
The all Kerala Dental Residents Union on Saturday,7th January,2012, decided to launch an indefinite hunger strike from Monday demanding an increase in the stipend of postgraduate students. Members of the Al Kerala Dental House Surgeons Association will join the protest, to be held in Thiruvananthapuram. In a statement,leaders of the organization said the state government was ignoring the demands of the association through its members had been staging an agitation for the past six days. The Health minister had earlier promised that the revision of existing stipend will come in to effect from October 20,2010" they said.
As part of intensifying the strike,the representatives of the union and the association from Kozhikodu,Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram government dental Colleges will join the hunger strike in front of the secretariat. The association will seek the support of other organist ion in the sector. If the strike continues ,it will affect the functioning of out patient,evening clinic and emergency service in the medical college causality.
