NURSES DEATH- KERALA STATE RECOMMENTED POSTHUMOUS GALLANTRY RECOGNITION
The State Government would recommend the President to bestow posthumous gallantry recognitions upon Remya Rajan and P.K. Vineetha, the two nurses who were killed in the fire that had struck the AMRI Hospital at Kolkata recently, while rescuing the patients trapped within the hospital. Speaking at the inaugural function of the Chief Minister’s mass contact programme here on Tuesday, Finance Minister K.M. Mani assured that a Cabinet meeting scheduled for Wednesday will take the formal decision in this regard.
The programme had commenced with the presentation of solatiums of Rs. 5 lakh each to the parents of the nurses during the function. The Minister also assured that one member of each of the families would be provided an employment opportunity. In an emotional moment, Vineetha’s parents Kunjumon and Mary, and Remya’s mother Usha received the financial assistances. Shylaja, the mother of Sandhya, another nurse who was injured at the mishap, was also presented with an assistance of Rs. 1 lakh at the function.
