MULLAPERIYAR ISSUE-
ACHUTHANANDAN MOVES HIGH COURT
Leader of the Opposition in Kerala Assembly and senior CPI(M) leader V S Achuthanandan moved the High Court today seeking urgent action on Mullaperiyar Dam issue. The petitioner sought the interference of the court in the matter.He submitted that the dam was in a dangerous condition. Engineers from the army must be directed to study the condition of the dam, he submitted.The dam was weak as it was built 116 years ago. The life expectancy of the dam was 50 years, he submitted.There was risk of the dam collapsing, he also submitted.
