DEEPIKA TO CELEBRATE
125 ANNIVERSARIES

The oldest Malayalam newspaper Deepika today announced an array of programmes, including exhibitions, media seminar and cultural events for children, to celebrate its 125 anniversary in a befitting manner in Kerala.Talking to newspersons here, Rashtra Deepika Chairman Monsignor Thomas Malekkudi and Reception Committee General Convenor Father Jose Nellikkatheruvil said Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy would formally inaugurate anniversary celebrations at a function presided over by Syro Malabar Sabha Major Archbishop Mar George Alanchery on November 28.

Civil Aviation and Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi would open jubilee projects while State Finance Minister would felicitate distingushed personalities at the function, they said.
Information and Rural Development Minister K C Joseph would release a book on the history of the daily ''Deepika Noottandukalude Vilak.'' Former Union Minister and Chairman and Managing Director of Mathrubhumi M P Veerendra Kumar would inaugurate the media seminar on November 26.Kerala Press Academy Chairman N P Rajendran, Malayala Manorama Resident Editor K Abobacker and Prof Kuriakose Kumbbalakuzhi would talk, they said. Established in 1887, the daily, with more than 20,000 share holders has editions from Kottayam, Kannur, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kochi and Thiruvanthapuram and an eveninger with nine editions across the State.
