TREMOR FELT IDUKKI DISTRICT AGAIN

Earthquake of low intensity was felt again in Idukkin district in the wee hours of Saturday, 26th, November, 2011. The tremor mildly rocked Upputhara, Valakode, Moolamattom and Chappathu areas. No loss of life or damage to property has been reported.The tremor was felt four times at 3.14, 3.20, 5.30 and 5.55 in the early morning. The first quake was measured 2.7 on the Richter scale. The latter quakes were measured 2.9, 1.4 and 1.7 on the Richter scale.
The quake was also felt in Poonjar and surrounding areas of Kottayam district.Aftershocks are also expected in Idukki district though there is nothing to panic, seismologist John Mathai has said.
