Annual Report 2010-2011

It’s with great humility; I would like to present the Annual report -2010 of the Bahrain Chapter SG College Alumni Association. It was indeed a pleasure to serve the chapter as its General Secretary which was formed to maintain cordial relations with all the former students at our college. By acknowledging our extreme gratitude to the Rulers of the Kingdom for the freedom extended to operate such gatherings, I would submit this report for your kind perusal.
General Body- On 18th December, 2010, the general Body of Bahrain Chapter was convened at Bangkok Restaurant Party Hall to elect the office bearers for the year 2011

Office Bearers- Patron – Anil Varghese, President- Mathai Pappachan, Vice President – Manoharan V, General Secretary- Isaac Raju, Joint Secretary- Babu K, Treasurer- Roy Baby, Joint Treasurer Shine Isaac, Membership Secretary – Giji John, Program Convener- Ajit Varghese,   Auditor Sajeemon George, Ex- Officio- Johnson baby
Committee Members- Aniyan Varghese, Vinod Johnson,Binson John, Riju K,Sabu Oommen, Sam Baby
Advisory Board- Sabu John, Baby Oomman, Charles Itty, John Omman,

 Anniversary- It was arranged to conduct our anniversary celebrations during February 2011. All arrangements were done including the release of a souvenir and the travel arrangements for our Association General Secretary Mr. Jacob Vadakkadom was made as well. Due to the Political unrest in Bahrain during early 2011, it was decided to postpone the program. A special thanks to all our executive committee for their great efforts poured in for this event. Later on, there were restrictions on such gatherings and we had to cancel all our scheduled meets including the Anniversary.
Onam – Our Onam celebrations were conducted on the 16th September, 2011 at South park restaurant Hall. Due to the restrictions on social gatherings, the executive committee has decided to have a low profile event hence avoided many guests from the community. It was an event attended by some 100 family members and children. Various activities were arranged for the kids and elders followed by the cultural programs and the Grand Onam feast. The Official website of Bahrain Chapter www.sgcbahrain.com was officially inaugurated during the event.

Executive Committee Meetings – There were 18 meetings held during the period to discuss and decide on our events and programs. All of these were arranged at our Members houses or personal offices and are thankful for those extended this facility to us
Support to Parent organization- As part of our aim to reach the financially poor students and support them, we were been able to sponsor the educational expenses for a student at our college. Our Participation in an All India Seminar by UGC at our college by sponsoring a day’s food for all the participants was also appreciated by the organizers.
Other Programs- We were invited for the inauguration of the new Arch at College entrance in July 2010, sponsored by UAE chapter and Mr. Isaac Raju did the felicitation speech attended by Mr. Sabu John as well. We actively participated in the Annual Family Day on 2nd October 2010 conducted in our college with our President Mr. Anil Varghese presided one session of the meeting and a felicitation speech by Mr. Ajit Varghese. In all the meetings, the central committee expressed their extreme happiness on our chapter’s activities and programs.
Obituary – The executive committee expressed condolence on the sad demise of, Very Rev P C Yuhanon , Mrs. Thankamma Varghese( M/o Mr. Aniyan Varghese), Mr. Manoj Chandran, (B/o Mr. Satheesh Chandran)  and Mrs. Mariamma Oommen (M/o Mr. Sabu Oommen) Mr. P G Mathew Kurakkar( F/O Prof. John Kurakar)and our representatives paid visit to the bereaved families.
On behalf of the managing committee, I take this opportunity to express our extreme gratitude to all the members, families & well wishers who supported us wholeheartedly for  the functioning of our chapter and wishing all the very best to continue maintain memories of our colourful college days through our association with the Alumni chapter.
