SEA FOOD RESTAURANT IN KOLLAM
The Quilon Social Service Society,the charity wing of the Kolllam dioces,has set up Canaan Foods, a sea food restaurant, at the Kollam beach area. The canaan restauraant inaugurated on Sunday,27th November,2011, was part of the society's efforts to improve the living standards of those from the fishing community.
The unit would be managed and operated by women from (SHGs) under the society. The restaurant would sell a wide range of traditional and exotoc fish dishes. Local catch would be used in the preparations. The Kitchen would also be managed by the SHG members. The personnel from the central institute of Fisheries Technology,Kochi,had imparted training to the SHG members. In addition to providing them better income, the restaurant also aimed at providing means of dignified livelihood to the women. The dishes would be sold at affordable prices.
