INDIAN NAVAL ACADEMY TO ELEBRATE NAVY DAY ON DECEMBER-4

Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, will celebrate Navy Day on December 4. According to an INA statement here today, this was to commemorate the daring missile attack by Indian Navy warships on Karachi harbour in the 1971 war against Pakistan and in memory of the sacrifices made by the sailors and officers to achieve the victory.The theme for Navy week this year is 'Indian Navy-Safe Seas and Secure Coasts for a strong Nation.' Navy also observes this day to build bonds with the local community and reaffirm the support and encouragement given by both state and private organisations in its endeavours.For the year 2011, Indian Naval Academy here at Ezhimala has planned a number of events in which participation by local populace in and around Naval Academy is being solicited. The events are spread over a month's time and will commence with 'Run for Fun' and Medical Camp tomorrow.

This will be followed by a Nature Walk for Children on November 22, visit of base by school children on November 26 from 0830 hrs to 1300 hrs and Visit by Special Children on November 30 from 0830 hrs to 1300 hrs. The base will be open to public on November 26 from 1300 hrs to 1700 hrs and on November 27 from 0900 hrs to 1700 hrs.There will also be a Fire Power Demonstration at the Ettikkulam Beach on December 4 at 1800 hrs. The Indian Naval Academy band is slated to perform at Kannur and Payyanur on December 6 and 8 respectively and there will be an exclusive performance for Kannur University on December 7. A Musical evening, Navy Ball and Navy Queen Contest will be held as part of the celebrations at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, the statement added.
