KOZHIKODU FIRING

Additional Chief Secretary to probe Kozhikode firing

Additional Chief Secretary K. Jayakumar will probe the incident of police firing against activists of CPM affiliate Students Federation of India (SFI) whose protest march turned violent at Kozhikode.Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told the state assembly that the government will take action in the basis of his report.

Meanwhile, the opposition staged a walk out in the assembly demanding the immediate suspension of the police official Radhakrishna Pillai who fired at the SFI activists. They also demanded a judicial probe in to the incident.Eleven students, including SFI state Secretary P Biju, and ten police personnel were injured in stone pelting and police lathicharge.
