SHORT COMINGS IN OUR SECURITY SET UP-----PROF.JOHN KURAKAR

SHORT COMINGS IN OUR SECURITY SET UP

The blast outside the Delhi High court, which has claimed lives and injured many, is a cowardly act. It is also shocking that the blast took place when parliament is in session. What should the country do? It is  failed our security systems and set ups. There must be a re look at the way the system functions across the country. In US and UK the security system is fully functional. The Home Ministry and the Indian Police Services are fully responsible. It is unfortunate to hear that there was no attempt to install modern infrastructure and modern management systems to ensure a time bound programme of implementation in the security field. In India there is plenty of Laws, Acts, rules and security check points every where with no action.
The US has successfully contained terrorism after 9/11. We have many lessons to learn. Terrorism seems to have deep rooted and our cities are increasingly becoming vulnerable to attacks. The latest incident is a reminder that there are deficiencies in the working of our national security apparatus. It is a sad reflection on the state of our intelligence agencies that not with standing the existing security  apparatus. It only shows that India is slowly becoming a soft target for acts of terror.

We do not realise that after9/11 the US has never  faced another situation of terror. There can be many hands behind a terror plot and we must find methods to find clues perhaps, we need international help. The life of the common man is still not secure
