INAUGURATED TIBETAN STUDIES
The Dalai Lama inaugurated the Centre for Tibetan Studies at the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and conferred an honorary degree on Tuesday, 5th September, 2011. The university, in collaboration with the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI), has instituted six new awards for its students pursuing masters in social work and will give away annual cash awards of Rs.5, 000 each.'Around 1.04 lakh students from across the country will receive their degrees on the occasion,' said the official.According to IGNOU, an exhibition will also be organised on the occasion where career counselling will be provided to the students.
