ANTI-ADDICTION CLUBS IN SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES
The Anti-addiction clubs will focus on creating awareness, identifying addicts and bringing them under the umbrella of de- addiction. The school and colleges will soon have anti- addiction clubs as part of the stte governments campaign against liquor drug addiction, and use of paan masala.
In the first phase,anti-addiction clubs would be established in schools covering the 140 Assembly constituencies. The second phase will focus on colleges, followed by a campaign that will involve civil society organisation.
The Kerala government had appointed a four member committee headed by K.S Radhakrishnan, former Vice Chancellor of Sanskrit University and chairman of Kerala Public Service Commission to formulate the guidelines for setting up the anti-Liguor clubs. Excise Minister Mr Babu claimed that Kerala would be the first state to formulate such a programme under the auspices of the excise department.
