RIYADH FIRE
(Five Keralites die in Riyadh fire)
Seven persons including five from Kerala were killed in a fire that broke out at Al-Batha .
The Keralites have been identified as Sulaiman Kurulai, Ahmed Kabeer both natives of Nilambur, Ajith (Ernakulam), Saji (Mavelikkara) and Abdul Rahim (Thrissur). One of the other two, known as Muhammed Kutty is suspected to be from Kerala. The other is a native of Nepal.
The mishap occured at the second floor of the Al Suvailin supermarket in Shara Guraib where they were employed and which was being used as temporary shelter..Authorities said a short circuit was the likely cause of the accident. The employees who were sleeping when the fire broke out died probably because of asphyxation.The fire which broke out at around 2 am Saturday(2nd July,2011) was brought under control by the fire force. Al-Batha is a locality in Riyadh with large population of Keralites.
