MANGALORE AIR CRASH HIGH COURT ORDERED COMPENSATION


Mangalorea Air crash:
(HC orders Rs 75 lakh interim compensation)




The Kerala High Court on Wednesday ordered an interim compensation of Rs 75 lakh to the families of victims who died in the Mangalore air crash. The HC ordered Air India to give compensation within a month. The order was issued on a petition filed by the father of Muhammed Rafi from Kumbala who was killed in the crash. The court observed that the compensation previously given by Air India was insufficient. The Court said the families of those would be given adequate compensation. The court also asked to give full compensation after calculations soon.The relatives of Muhammed Rafi opined that, as per international rule a compensation of at least Rs 1.5 crore was to be given. In the crash on May 22, 2010, 158 persons including 52 Malayalees were killed. Form Kasargod alone 48 were killed.Air India said that they welcome the verdict and The accident on May 22 2010  had resulted in death of 158 people on board the Air India Express Flight 812 after the aircraft from Dubai to Mangalore overshot the runway while landing.
