            JAWAHARLAL NEHRU AWARD
 FOR INTERNATIONALUNDERSTANDING


 It wa instituted in 1965 in the memory of the late Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It carries a citation, a   trophy and Rs 15 lakh in cash and is administered by the Indian council for Cultural Relation. The first recipent was U.Thant in 1965.
