Kanimozhi moved Supreme Court for bail
DMK MP Kanimozhi and Kalaignar TV managing director Sharad Kumar, who are in jail in connection with the 2G spectrum scam, Friday moved the Supreme Court to seek bail after their petitions were rejected by the Delhi High Court. Both, charged as co-conspirators and beneficiaries in the 2G spectrum scam for allegedly accepting Rs.214 crore as bribe, are lodged in the Tihar Jail since May 20.
Kanimozhi, daughter of DMK chief M. Karunanidhi, will challenge the Delhi High Court's Wednesday,8th June,2011, verdict that rejected her bail plea on the ground of the possibility of her tempering with witnesses and evidence. While dismissing their plea for bail, the high court said that given their political and money influence, Kanimozhi and Kumar were capable of tampering with evidence and influencing the witnesses.Former communications minister Andimuthu Raja is already in jail in connection with the case.
