CYCLES FOR SCHEDULED CASTE STUDENTS
Students of eighth standard will get cycles this academic year. The Kerala government proposes to distribute cycles to 55,000 eighth standard students who belong to Scheduled Caste (SC). Minister for Tourism and Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Communities A.P Anil Kumar has said on Thursday,9th June,2011. The objectives of the free distribution of cycles was to prevent students from dropping out of studies. The first phase of the programme would be completed in 100 days. All students of the eighth standard would get cycles in this academic year itself. The Scheme would cost Rs 15 crore.
