    World Environment Day (WED) is an annual event that is aimed at being the biggest and most widely celebrated global day  for positive environmental action. World environment day is celebrated on 5th June every year. The world environment Day began to be celebrated began to be celebrated in 1972. This year(2011) theme is Forests: Nature at your service which highlights the critical role of forests in providing services essential to every aspect of life".

 Ayppalloor Edan Nagar Residence Association  observed world Environment Day-2011 on 5th June at Kurakar Garden's(കുരാക്കാര്‍  ഗാര്ടെന്‍സ് ). Prof. John Kurakar(ജോണ്‍ കുരാക്കാര്‍ ),president,Edan Nagar Residence Association inaugurated the World Environment Day Celebration. Mr Cheriyan P.Koshy, Sr .Scientist, Trophical Botanical Garden delivered keynote address.. Mr Mathew Koshy, Ward member, Mr P.M.G Kurakaran, Mr M. Achen Kunju, Mr M. Thomas, Mr M.O Alexander, Mr Bobby Kurakar, Mr Kunjumon. C, Mr T. George Kutty, Mr G. Kurikesu, Mr. D Daniel,, Mr V. Vikraman, Mr Prafakaran.N, Mr Manu Kurakar, Mr. Babu Mathew, Mr K.G George were actively participated on the seminar. Mr M.Thomas, Secretary welcomed the members and Mr M.Achenkunju expressed vote of thanks.
