Malayalam becomes
First language in schools.
The government has issued an order making Malayalam the compulsory first language in schools. Though the cabinet had taken the decision on this earlier, various attempts were made to sabotage it. Mathrubhumi had reported the delay in making Malayalam the first language the other day.
Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan intervened in the issue and as per the strict direction from the CM, the order was issued on Friday(6-5-2011). The main highlight is to give opportunity to study Malayalam in all schools in Kerala and make Malayalam the first language. With this decision the number of Malayalam periods would be raised and number of teachers too would go up.
