SRI lANKAN AIRLINES TO RESUME KOCHI SERVICE

To boost, lesiure traffic from Kochi to Colombo, the airline has introduced a special holiday package at a Rs 9,999 per head, valid from March 27 to April 20. The package includes return air fare, accommodation on a twin-sharing basis and half a day Colombo city tour. The airline aims to capture the market provided by Indian expatriates by providing competitive fres, especially to west Asia, and plans to expand its presence in various other Indian destinations, including Kozhikodu, Hydrabad and Madurai. The airline had started its Kochi operations in 2003, but suspended the service in January 2009 owing to a re fleeting proces and slump in global air travel.
The Kochi-Colombo sector had experienced a great demand from Gulf passengers from Kochi till the acvent of low-cost carries which offered direct flights. The prolonged internal disturbance in Sri Lenka was also cited as a major onward connections from Colombo.Sti Lanka is fast becoming a popular international tourist destination and the relaunch will Cater to the combined tourist packages connecting it with the various destinations of Malaysia or Singapore
