The Hindu report creates a storm in both houses of parliament
The proceedings in both Houses of Parliament were marred on Tuesday 16th March,2011 by repeated adjournments and uproar as a united opposition demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan singh following fresh disclosures alleging bribery of MPs during the July 2008 no-confidence vote which UPA-I government won by a slim majority.

Citing the 2008 correspondence from the U.S Embassy to its government, revealed by Wiki Leaks and published by The Hindu. The opposition attack, spearheaded by the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) and the Left parties, focused on Prime Minister Manmohan singh. They demanded that either he deny the allegations of pay offs to some MPs or resign immediately. The opposition in the Loksabha Sushma Swaraj said the expose shamed Indian democracy. As the BJP members shouted" shame ,shame" Mr Jaitly said " A government which survived on such a political sin has no authority to continue even for one minute. Mr Jaitley again said the expose reflected the extraordinarily depressing situation to which Indian democracy has been reduced.. Mr Advani said" Dr Singh has lost all moral authority. Dobbing the expose as the biggest scandal in the post independent history.Mr Advani again said that any person proud of the Indian democratic system should feel ashamed about it.I read news about politicians purchasing votes. Wiki Leaks revelation that the congress assembled Rs 50 crore to 60 crore in 2008 to purchase the support of Mps, the picture of the pathetic condition to which our democracy has been pushed becomes so vivid that we can't but believe it. How can political partie's' assemble' such huge amounts ina nation where millions don't get even on decent meal.
Wiki Leaks is the best journalistic contribution in recent times. The Hindu deserves praise for taking the bold step of exposing our politicians and bureaucrats. The exposes is very appropriate time. Many have questioned the authenticity of the cables send by U.S. But are they authentic? The journalist collect plenty of gossip and pass them. Why should we give so much importance to what was communicated by US diplomats to their government? They are not authenticated records.
