MARAMON CONENTION-2011


           The 116th Maramon Convention,organised by Mar Thoma Evangelistic Association(MTEA) attached to Marthoma Church at Maramon,near Kozhencherry, began on Sunday 14th  February,2011.
           MarthomaMetropolitan Joseph Mar Thoma inaugurated the annual religious convention billed as Asia's largest annualchristian congregation, at its traditional venu on the pampa river-bed at 2.30 pm. Addressing the congregation,the MarthomaMetropolitan expressed concern over the warning parents-child relations in the fast pace of the modern world. Parents failing to find time properly look after their children and children failing to find to ensure the well being of theeeir elderly parents were found to be the main issues facing society he said.
    Churches and the community as a whole have got the social responsibility to fight against all sorts of value erosion,the Thomas Metropolitan said. Dr Joseph Mar Thoma said Mahatma Gandhi's vision  of independent India was a value based democratic state.
     " Where are you? Where is your brother? has been selected the theme of this years maramon meet. The inaugural function began with prayers by Philipose Mar Chrysotum, senior metropolitan of the church. there would be three sessions of religious discourses at 10 am and 6.30 pm from February 14 to 20.Bible classes will be held separately for men and women at the convention venue from 7.30 am to 8.30 am from February 14 to 19. An ecumenical meet will be held at 10 am on February 16 and a meet against social evils in the afternoon. the religious meet will end on February 20.
