DOUBLE-DECKER BUS

             
The Kerala state Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is all set to launch a double Decker Bus service in the cities. the bus service is being  launched  more than three decades after it was with drawn from the city roads. A brand new double Decker has arrived at RTC's Aluva workshop and is expected to begin service this month. the Bus can accommodate 73 people. The KSRTC is targeting families on an outing and also tourist who can enjoy an elevated view of the city. the bus has design and specifications similar to that of the Brihanmumbai Electric supply and Transport(BET) double deckers operating inMumbai. thedouble decker for the Kochi and one for Thiruvananthapuram were brought by the road from Mumbai and each have a height of 4.70 m. the buses cost Rs 33 lakh each. thirty one people can sit on the lower deck and 42 on the upper deck. the bus has fiber moulded seats. the space has been optimally utilized.
    Passengers would not be allowed to stand on the upper deck,for safety reasons. the fare would be the same as in ordinary city buses. A mirror has been strategically  placed on the staircase so that the conductor seated below can see the upper deck.
