NATIONAL BRAVERY AWARD-2010

   Thirteen-year old Jismi P.M from Kerala, who saved two children from drowning in a quarry, will be conferred the " Geeta Chopra Bravery Award. She is among the four winners of bravery awards from the kerala state.
   The winners will receive a medal, a certificate and a cash prize each from the Prime Minister on Republic day. Sanjay chopra award has been given to 11 year old Priyanshu Joshi of Uttarakhand for saving his sister from a leopard.
     Nine girls and 14 boys have been selected for the National Bravery Awards 2010. Vishnudas K(17) of Kerala Mooniskhan(15) of Madhya pradesh and IpI Basar(16) of Arunachal predesh were awarded the Bapu Gaidhani Award.
     The youngest award winner this year is six- year old  Shrawan kumar from Rajasthan. He rescued one -year old girl and her two and- half year old sister from a burning hut in sarneswr village.
   Eleven year old Gureevan singh from punjab, who helped prevent a bank robbery by attacking the thieves with bricks. Also to be awarded this year is a 16 year old girl from west Bengal.
    Other recipients  of the awards are kalpana sonowed and Rehamoni Sonowal(Assam),Rahul Kurry and Parvathy Amlesh ( Chhattis garh) Anoop M and Raj Narayanan( Kerala) Rohit Maruti Mulik ( Maharashtra) Md Nurul Huda (Manipur) Freedy Nongsiej and Lovelystar K. Sohphob (Meghalaya) Lalmwizuali (Mizoram ) late Chhampa Kanwar ( Rajasthan),Bibek Sharma ( Sikkim),Uttam Kumar ( Uttarpradesh and late Shruti Lodhi (uttarakhand)
      The National Bravery Award scheme was initiated by the Indian council for child welfare in 1957. So far 800 children- 568 boys and 232 girls have given the award.
