DILMA ROUSSEFF IS THE NEW PRESIDENT OF BRAZIL

    Brazilian new president Dilma Rousseff began her first full day in office on Sunday 2nd January,2011 after pledging to build on the policies of her predecessor, Luiz Inacio Lula  da Silva. The 63-year old divorced grand mother, who was Mr Lula's former Cabinet chief assumed the presidency on Saturday 1st January, 2011.
   In her swearing in speech before Brazil's congress, Ms Rousseff said" The most determined struggle will be to eradicate extreme poverty. We can be more developed and fairer country. Brazil economy grew an enviable 7.6 percent in 2010. Brazil is preparing to host the 2014 foot ball world cup and 2016 Olympics.Brazil needs more and better infrastructure.
