VIOLENCE IN PALAKKAD

          Violence spread to Palakkad town and Pudussery during the 12- hour hartal called by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursay 2 nd December,2010 in protest against  the killing of Rastitriya swayamsevcak sangh worker Ratheesh at Kanjikodu in Pudussery grama panchayat on Wednesday 1 st December,2010
        Violence broke out when the body was taken ina procesion from the district hospital to his house at Pudussery. Injuring many dan damaging some vehicles,shops and houses. At least eight persons were injured seriosly in the clashes that followed the murder.
         The Hartal was total in the Assembly constituencies of Palakkad,Malapuzha and Chittur. shops and buiness establishments were closed.
         District collector K.V Mohan Kumar called an all party meeting at the collectorate in a bid to end the violence.
