FISHERIES UNIVERSITY
The Kerala Cabinet on Wednesday 3rd November,2010 recommended to the Governor promulgation of an ordinance for establishment of University of Fisheries and Ocean studies in the state. The University will have its head quarters at panangad in Ernakulum district.
The University is proposed to be set up in view of the increasing role of the fisheries sector in the ceremony of the state. The University is expected to promote research and training of professionals and entrepreneurs.
The University will come up on 75 acres of land belong to the Fisheries college,Panangad, and 50 acres belonging to the fisheries station at puthuveypu which will be hived off from Kerala Agricultural University.
