COIMBATORE CITY PAID A TEARFUL HOMAGE TO THE TWO CHILDREN MURDERED
Coimbatore- Textile city organized candle light vigils, prayer and meetings and silent processions on Tuesday, 2nd November, 2010 to pay homage to the two children murdered in October.
The city reached with stunned silence as details emerged about the abduction, rape and murder of a ten year old girl and her brother. The children were pushed in to a canal. The girls’ body was found on Friday night and boys on Sunday. Two persons were arrested for the murder.
Students, teachers and other staff of the Suguna Matriculation School, where they studied, were seen sobbing and paid tearful tribute.
The news of the murder of two abducted children in Coimbatore is most shocking. Offenders have no fear of the law or punishment. In most cases, they surrender directly to the magistrate. It may be worthwhile to remember that in Islamic countries, where deterrent punishment is awarded to criminals, the crime rate is lower. Even if we cannot follow their laws, the courts can award the most deterrent punishment for such crimes. The criminals deserve nothing less them the death penalty.
