The Group of Ministers(GoM) on Bhopal which met on Fridat 18th June,2010 and submit its reports. The GoM’s recommendations classified broadly under three heads- legal issues,compensation and remediation measures/ disposal of waste.
The planning commission is understood to have released Rs 982 crore to the MadhyaPradesh government for rehabilitation of Bhopal gas tragedy victims. The state government accepted that 16,000 people had died and 5,000 women were widowed in the 1984 disaster due to the toxic waste that polluted the environmeng in and around the abandoned union carbide factory in Bhopal. The action plan for rehabilitation is divided in to four components- medical, economic,social and environmental.
