POLICE PROTECTION FOR C.M.S COLLEE


A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Friday 18th June,2010,criticised the police for their failure to prevent the violence on the campus of C.M.S College, Kottayam.The court observed that the incidents that took place on the campus were’atrocious’ and that it was really’ a shame’ that such incidents were happening in the sate.

The violence indulged in by the agitating SFI students on the campus would show that they had taken law in to the hands.

The CMS College managements is firm on its decision to implement the disciplinary action taken against those responsibele for instigating violence on the campus. Some students has been engaging in un lawful activities in the college. Despite repeat warnings of the college principal. On an average, out of the possible 180 working days, nearly 70 are lost due to student activism. This is deplorable.

Kerala Prfadesh Congress Committee condemned the violence and destruction of properties at CMS College by SFI activists. The Congress Committee said the incident was a reflection of the CPI’s approach to interests of religious minorites.

The Catholic Federation of India called for compensation for the loss suffered by the Collee authorites on account of the violent incidents. Prof.John Kurakar, President, Kerala Kavya Kala Sahithy said that the government and the Communist Party of India(Marxist) should give compensation to the College authorities for the loss on account of the SFI students violent incidents.
