COLLEGE TEACHERS PLAN STIR FOR UGC PAY

COLLEGE TEACHERS
PLAN STIR FOR UGC PAY
The Kerala private college teachers association is to launch an indefinite agitation, protesting against the delay on the part of the government in implementing the revised pay scale of the university Grants Commission (UGC) in the state.
The Association would observe a token strike on January7, 2009. The association members had staged fast before the secretariat twice, besides staging dharna before the office of the Deputy Director of Collegiate Education across the state, to press for its demands.
The government indifferent attitudes towards grievances of college teachers led to the decision to go on agitation. The government did not have any satisfactory explanation for the delay in implementing the UGC pay scale
