RICH TRIBUTE TOINDIRA GANDHI
25th death anniversary of Indira Gandhi was observed on Saturday 3 1st October 2009, as National Re- dedication Day. An official function was held in the state secretariat to commemorate the occasion, with employees observing a two minute silence. Food and Civil supplies minister C. Divakaran read out the National Integration pledge to the employees.
The Congress party also observed’ martyr’s day to commemorate the occasion at the district, block, mandalam and ward levels.
Floral tributes were paid to the late prime minister at a function held at the Indira Bhavan. An all religion prayer held on the occasion was led by senior congress leader sri K. Karunakaran. Mr Karunakaran recalled the late prime minister’s ledership qualities and the special care, she took to shower her attention on ordinary party workers and to protect them.
Indira Gandhi was not responsible for the massacre of some 4000 sikhs in Delhi, Kanpur, Bokaro and other Indian cities which began on 31th October 25 years ago that is 1984.
