LIBERHAN REPORT

The demolition of the Babri masjid was planned, systematic, and was the intended out come of climate of communal intolerance deliberately created by the Sangh parivar and its sister affiliates, including the Bharatiya Janata party.
This is the key finding of the nearly 1000 page-long report of the one man Liberhan Commission on the catastrophic events of December 6, 1992. The report places individual culpability for the demolition on a total of 68 persons Kalyan Singh, and his Ministers hand picked bureaucrats created man made and cataclysmic circumstances which could r3esult in no consequences other than the demolition of the 16th century mosque.
Justice Liberhan who took 16 years and six months to compile the meticulously assembled report. The judge having analyzed many hours of audio and video recordings and having observed the witnesses. Justice Liberhan say “ It canot be assumed even for moment that L.K Advani, A.B Vajpayee and M.M Joshi did not know the designs of the sangh parivar.
Justice Manmohan sigh Liberhan's main findings are as follows: The desturction of the Babri masjid far from being” spontaneous” as big-wings of the Bharatiya Janatha Party have claimed was systematically planned” tailor-made” as revealed by the mode of assault, the small number of Karsevaks assigned to the job of demolition the easy available of the instruments of destruction, and other preparations on site. A whole range of sangh parivar organizations under the hegemony of the Rashtriya swayam sevak sangh as well as the Shiva sena were involved.
The findings of the Babri masjid demolition- the biggest and most shameless violation of secular democracy- by self proclaimed protectors of Hindutva have been tabled in parliament amid high drama. The BJP has criticised the leakage of the Liberhan Commission report to the media, saying the government is diverting the nations attention from core issues.
The hue and cry over the reports leak is unwarranted. The media have fulfilled their responsibility of being an effective watchdog. The media cannot be blamed for publishing the findings if the report in a bid to unravel a closely kept secret. Their professional duty demands it. The Liberhan Commission has taken 17 years to conclude what was known to every one from the day the Babri masjid was brought down by sangh parivar leaders and followers. The Right to Information has been recognised and there is a crying need for transparency.
The Liberhan Commission report come down strongly on the Rashtriya swayamsevak sangh and the vishwa Hindu Parishad, accusing them of manipulating the common masses and turning them in to a frenzied mob, capable of acts of the greatest depravity- un parallalel in recent times. The Report charges the RSS with running a parallel government that minutely supervised the smallest detail in the events leading up to the demolition of the Babri masjid. The RSS, Shiva sena, Bajrang Dal, the BJP etc.. Colle4ctively formed an immense and awesome entity with a shreud brain, a wide en compassing sweep and he crushing strength of a mob.
Justice M.S Liberhan worked diligently for 17 years through more that 40 extensions of his initial three month brief to produce a 1029 page report full of facts and details about the events and circumstances of the Babri masjid in 1992. His conclusion is unsurprising but unequivocal and bold: the demolition was part of a well thought out plan- a joint common enterprise- hatched by the top leadership of the Rashtriya swayamsevak sangh, the vishwa Hindu Parishad, the siva sena and the Bharatiya Janata party.
The UI.P Administration abetted in demolition of Babri masjid. The U.P police and administration remained mute spectators is and oft- related observation in the Liberhan report. The U.P state specifically refused to take the responsibility for implementing the courts orders. The police may have faced in standing up to their political bosses. They were handpicked by the then chief minister, Kalyan singh-who had assumed all powers to transfer officials- because of their political leanings. No preventive steps were taken to forestall the demolition of the disputed structure nor to prevent or stop the vandalism. RSS workers deployed as organizers at the disputed structure. U.P chief minister Kalyan singh took all steps to ensure that no force of any nature was used against the karsevaks and leaders of the movement.
