Thousands of Hindus performed the ritualistic
Vavu bali on offering to the sprits of their ancestors at various temple ghats and other holy places in different parts of the state on Tuesday 21st July 2009. A large number of people taking at specially prepaid ‘bali pura’s’ on the banks of various rivers for performing the religious rite were found various temple ghats. Thousands of people offered vavu Bali on the beaches in kollam. People thronged the Thirumullavaram beach in the city from 4 am to offer the Bali. Special arrangements had been made on the beach front by various organizations for the people to perform the Bali rituals.
Medical team was also present in strength at the Bali venues where the rituals were performed. The Bali Tharpan rituals began at 5 am at most place and continued till noon
