TEARFUL TRIBUTE
TO PERUMON VICTIMS
(21ST ANNIVERSARY OF ACCIDENT OBSERVED)
The 21st anniversary of the perumon train accident was observed as the perumon smrithi Mandapam on Wednesday 8th July 2009. One hundred and five persons were killed in the accident, which occurred in 1988. The commemoration was organized jointly by the Indian Red cross society, the kadappayil Nursing Home and the friends of birds.
A good crowd arrived to pay tribute at the smrithi Mandapam. Many shed tears for dear ones lost in the accident among them was Sabavathi from Bangalore whose brother Shanmugha Sunder was a victim. A tearful Sabavathi was consoled by Education Minister M.A Baby and Health Minister P.K Sreemathi
