MUSEUM FOR VELUTHAMPI DALAWA
AT MANNADI
Museum to the Veluthampi Dalawa at mannadi is the memorial of the freedom fighter. Veluthampi Dalwa who was the minister of Bala Rama Varma Maharja of the erst while Travancore kingdom. The museum was part of the veluthampi Dalwa memorial project launched in 1994. The memorial has been designed in such a way as to inform the posterity about the heroic of veluthampi, who made the supreme sacrifice for his motherland against British Veluthampi had spent his last days at mannadi where he had ended his life to avoid being humiliated by the British after leading a rebellion against them.
The memorial is set up in 1.27 acres, A statue of veluthampi was erected here three years ago an open air auditorium too was set up. Construction of the museum building estimated at Rs 30 lakh, was in its final stage. The state government had donated the sword of veluthampi to the first president of India Rajendra Prasad in 1958. It is now with the Archaeological museum in new-Delhi
