GETS SIX MINISTERS-209
Kerala would have six ministers including two of Cabinet rank, in the Manmohan Singh- led united Progressive Alliance (UPA) Ministery. This is for the first time that the State is getting such good representation in the union council of Ministry. A.K Antony and Vayalar Revi have already been inducted in to the union cabinet, with the former retaining his defence portfolio. Both are the members of the Rajya sabha. Mullapally Ramachandran, K.V Thomas, Shasi Tharoor and E. Ahamed were the other ministers of kerala. Mr A. K Antony, as defence minister is with his clean image and democratic style. Vayalar Revi has retained his Cabinet. His performance in the parliamentary affairs portfolio during the diificult days when the government faced a no-confidence motion in the 14 th Lok sabha. Mr E Ahamed return to the ministry mainly his performance as minister of state for external affairs in the previous Manmohan singh government. Mr Mullappally Ramachandran returns to the ministerial berth after more than 15 years. He was the minister of state for Agriculture in the P.V Narasimha Rao ministery. Prof K.V Thomas was first elected in parliament in 1984 He was the Tourism minister in the Antony cabinet in the state from 2001 to 2004. He was the president of the Ernakulam district congress committee for more tan 15 years. ShasiTharoor was the Congress High Command’s candidate. The Ministerial berth come as due his recognition.
